JOHN
HARE
As president of ABC Radio since 1999, John Hare is responsible
for one of the largest radio networks in the United States, heard
in over 90 countries with an estimated weekly audience of 145 million
listeners. His 37 years of experience as a radio executive have
included sales and management positions nationwide.
Hare's broadcasting career began in 1969 as an account executive
at KXYZ/Houston. After several promotions there, he became general
sales manager of WRQX/Washington, DC. Returning to his native Detroit
in 1980, he became vice president/general manager of WRIF/Detroit.
After moving back to Texas in 1984, he became vice president/general
manager of KTKS/Dallas-Fort Worth, went on to WBAP/Dallas-Fort Worth
as president/general manager in 1986, and then became president/general
manager of KSCS/Dallas-Fort Worth in 1996. At that time he also
managed ABC's radio stations in Detroit.
John Hare was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2006.
